Is Wizkid Actually Betraying His Nigerian Fans? Wizkid Under Fire For Rolling More With Foreigners

Recently too to his twitter handle a charity show he is going to run in London to support the victims of the grenfell tower with all the profit he made from the show. see tweet

This has stirred up a lot of critics and the following points were picked

  1.  replied – “My father once told me that charity begins at home.”
  2.  replied – “How many times as ur fund been to Bornu victims??”
  3.  replied with a photo (read) >>>>
  4.  replied – “but wizkid u neva donated shit to our own IDPs”

And so on and so forth. The question here is pointing at the same direction. Nigerians having supported Wizkid to stardom is expecting a return. Nigeria is expecting our celebrities to give back to the society not bent on looking for international recognition.

Wizkid is about to drop a new album titled “Sounds from the otherside“. It is good to note that the sounds are actually coming from the other side as none of our indigenous artists were featured in the album which featured the likes of Drake, Chris Brown, Ty Dollar $ign, Major Lazer, Bruce and Trey Songz. A very nice move, but, is Wizkid actually giving Nigerians a sign? Well let me not go so fast till the sign gets more obvious.

Remember recently there is a fight between Wizkid and Davido where Wizkid made a statement that denotes he is going international… Recall tweet

May I highlight this “Catch up or STAY LOCAL“. Local? Hmmmm

Now the questions yet to be answered are:

  1. Is it by forcing on Nigerians the “Sounds from the other side” that Wizkid expects to catch up?
  2. Is it by donating to London charity and abandoning our distressed country’s IDPs that Wizkid expects to catch up?

I don’t think this is real catch up. Wizkid needs to slow down and understand where he comes from and that it was only the Nigerian fans who first showed him the love that made him.
